- My venture concept still entails the topic of aiding parking situations on college campuses. At many college campuses, it is a common issue and topic that is constantly ignored. It affects the lives of students and faculty workers every day.
- I have gotten lots of feedback over the time of the course and have the understanding that this is definitely a need or an opportunity and students would appreciate this. The feedback also showed me how it can be incorporated in other areas.
- I changed it by incorporating more details like different features and allowing it to be offered on all platforms. I also took into consideration the idea of including funding into tuition.

29A – Venture Concept No. 2
30A – Final Reflection

- I had a few highs in this course, some including interviewing individuals and seeing their reaction to my product. Something I would consider a low would be the cupcakes, I always missed them or felt time constraint when taking them.
- What I learned about this class is a whole new strategy for planning and developing a product. It has shown me that it is imperative to pay attention to every single detail and make sure you are always on top of things.
- Yes, I definitely think I have more of an entrepreneur mindset, this class has been very helpful in ensuring that.
- I would recommend to always complete the assignments ahead of time and ensure that you have each part completed.

16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?
- I think what makes me unique is the fact that I have great social skills. I can entertain a conversation that I have no idea of the topic and run with it. I am also very passionate about my product so it would not be hard to present it to anyone and encourage them to support it. Another advantage that I have is that I am very innovative. I always think outside of the box and am very crafty in any project or task that I do.
Jade: She said that I was hardworking and dedicated to all the projects that I put my mind to. She agreed with what I said and the fact that I always pay attention to improvement.
Robert: He explains how I complete my projects on time and in a correct fashion. He summarizes how my products will be a success due to my driven mindset.
Denise: Denise said I am very driven and dedicated and once I put my mind to certain projects I always get the job done.
Angelina: She agrees with what I said and mentions that I am an out of the box thinker.
Hayley: She explains how I can hold a conversation with just about anyone and how I am a good friend to have.
Differences: I think how I perceive myself is very similar as to how others do. I did not notice any differences in responses and it was on a similar track to the list I made prior. I would not change anything about the list that I made before interviewing people.
28A- Your Exit Strategy
- For my exit strategy, I plan on staying with the business if it is a success. If the business thrives and I am making a good profit I will stay with it and see where I can take it. If not, I would try to work on a new project and keep striving for success. This class has taught me a lot about trial and error and this product and opportunity may be a failure but I have learned to pick up from it and do better.
- I have selected this strategy because it seems the most beneficial to me. If the business is not doing well then I would rather focus on something else that would be a success.
- I think my exit strategy has made me be more optimistic and always think about different ways to go about things. Being open-minded allows me to think of alternative ways to improve and make use of my talents.
27A – Reading Reflection No. 3
- I chose the book "The Art of Social Media" by authors Guy Kawasaki and Peg Fitzpatrick, I chose this book because it seemed very interesting to me and thought it would not only relate to the production of my product but also my major of Public Relations. The authors discuss how social media is evolving in our world and how there is a set of skills that individuals can use in their personal life and business life.
- This book definitely has a connection to this course because social media plays a huge role in businesses and organizations today. Social media is something that has grown tremendously in the past decade and has become one of the largest factors of success for products. The book offers tips on how to use social media to your advantage when promoting a product and how to make it appeal to your targetted audience.
- An exercise that I would implement based on this book is social media branding. I think that promoting your product on social media is key in the steps to success. The exercise would be to choose a social media platform and create an ad or promotion, once it is created, it should be posted and students can record the insights that they get from each platform. Today, apps allow users to view their reach so it would give students a better insight as to how desired or interesting their product is.
- One thing that surprised me is when the authors mentioned how social media is like a second resume. Although I already knew this the way that the authors explained it really highlighted the importance of social media and how the world views it. Students are always told not to put anything out on social media because once it is out, anyone can see it. In the book, the author mentions how instead of companies going through other individuals and a series of interviews to decide the status of employment, they use things like Facebook pages as an alternative.
26A – Celebrating Failure
Throughout this course I have faced many challenges, considering what is going on in our world right now there has been other things that add onto it which make it difficult to succeed. An example is getting back on track after the transition to all online. Before the virus outbreak, I had a solid schedule of my classes and had a good balance of online versus in-person classes. Although this class has always been online I felt overwhelmed with all the new recorded lectures and shifts in due dates that I was faced with. It took me a while to get back on track but thankfully I am and think I have learned to always be ready to face failures and challenges. This course has taught me to appreciate failures and look at them as a steppingstone rather than in a negative way.

15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2
- Robert Pitter
- Do you use Apps on your mobile device daily?
- Yes, all the time, I use various types of apps every day.
- Where do you think parking is the worst?
- Definitely at places that are common for being crowded.
- Is there a need for better parking situations?
- Yes, finding parking takes up so much time and if there was a way for it to be easier than I would appreciate it.
- How much are you willing to pay for an app?
- It depends on what the app offers if it is like a game I won't spend money on it but if it helps me daily then probably up to $10.
- Parker Day
- Do you use Apps on your mobile device daily?
- Yes
- Where do you think parking is the worst?
- For sure college areas and places like theme parks, I go to school near a theme park and finding parking is almost impossible.
- Is there a need for better parking situations?
- If there was a way to make parking easier than I do think that there is a need to fix it.
- How much are you willing to pay for an app?
- If it is an app that will help my day go easier then I would pay an amount that is reasonable like $20 but if it is higher than that then I would not see the point. It also depends if there is in-app purchases or if it is a reoccurring charge.
- Chris Radler
- Do you use Apps on your mobile device daily?
- Yes, all day every day.
- Where do you think parking is the worst?
- I think my apartment complex because it is first come first serve and there is no distinction between resident and guest parking.
- Is there a need for better parking situations?
- Yes, I think that there is so much room for improvement, an app would make it a lot easier to park.
- How much are you willing to pay for an app?
- I usually do not pay for apps so I would only be willing to pay $5 but if the app benefits me a lot I would be open to spending more.
Conclusion: This segment gave me good insight as to what consumers are looking to use and what they are willing to pay for. I have a clear idea that this product is needed and that it will be used daily. I also have a better understanding as to what niche I should be aiming for.

25A – What’s Next?
What’s Next?
Existing Market:
Step 1: In the future, I hope to offer this app to other businesses and locations that are common for being busy. An example would be theme parks or malls, this way individuals can enjoy their leisure time without having to worry about the issue of parking.
Step 2: After interviewing my peers, I received the feedback that this app would definitely be used in other businesses but I should start thinking about funding and fees that people need to pay to get the app.
Step 3: What makes the most sense for the future is launching the product in an area that I know wants it. Once this product has been available for a set amount of time I can look into the usage and the statistics and see if it could be used in other places. I want to start in areas with younger generations because they use technology more than older generations. The youth has a better idea of apps and technology so it would create various types of feedback and additions to the existing app.
New Market:
Step 1: Older generations who do not use technology as much.
Step 2: Targetting the older generation and those who do not use technology as much would be hard but not impossible. Troubles with finding parking are a universal problem not just a problem for younger people. Although they do not use as much technology, if there was a solution or something that could make it easier to park, I believe it would be used.
Step 3: After interviewing people of the older generation, I gained feedback that although it may be hard to learn the new technology, once it is learned it would be used. Some offered ideas like classes that can be held or tutorials that help individuals learn how to use the app. They also offered insight into how leisure places could definitely make use of this product.
Step 4: I learned a lot about this new market. At first, I thought that older generations would not even think about getting more involved in technology but I was wrong. They do not want to get into aspects of technology like social media where they do not see the benefits of it but would be interested in technology that helps ease their stress of the day. People of the older generation are intrigued of the advances of technology and support it if it has a good cause which the app that I would be offering does.

Venture Concept No. 1
Business Name: Park Easy
When I started this course my ideas were everywhere and I did not know which route to take. I narrowed all of them down to the biggest issues that I face when I am at college. I wanted to focus on a product that relates to my community because I thought it would be easier to collect data and relate to the purpose of my product. When I came up with the idea to work on fixing the parking situation at my college I asked my peers if they face the same problem. Everyone that I talked to said yes and even other individuals at other campuses. That is when I knew I had to center my product on this group of consumers. After receiving feedback from my classmates I know I am on the right track and made the right decision on making a product that would benefit students and others on college campuses. I have gotten a lot of feedback on more ideas to add to the product and other products that are similar but not exactly the same to mine.

23A – Your Venture’s Unfair Advantage
- Location: This product will be available at the locations that need it most like college campuses. Students are more willing to use technology so they would use the app more than an elder.
- Time-Saving: This product will save students and faculty a lot of time in their day when they are trying to head to their commitments of the day.
- Unique: This product is not like any other product that is offered for students because it does not exist on college campuses.
- Money: Eventually I would like the app to be included in tuition or fees that college students pay already to help support the growth of the app.
- Reliability: The app is accurate and has specific information about each parking spot that will allow students to have a clear image of their parking situations.
- Social Skills: I am very social and am passionate about this product so it will not be hard to encourage individuals to use my product.
- Universal: Although it will be offered for college students right now, it could be taken globally and can be used in other businesses.
- Easy: The app is detailed and specific so it is easy for students to use and work with.
- Features: Not only does it help parking spots but it gives an insight into how busy days are on a college campus.
- Less Stress: This product would ease the stress that students have every day and make their college career a bit easier with one less thing to worry about.
I think my best advantage is the reliability that the app offers, It will collect data and show users specific spots and insights to what their parking situation is of the day. This will be helpful when planning their day.

21A: Reading Reflection No. 2
Reading Reflection No. 2
How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Scott Adams
- General theme/argument
- In this book, Scott Adams discusses the general theme that failing is actually good for an individual. The individual can either dwell on the failure or view it in a positive way and learn from it to be better. The author encourages individuals to always focus on oneself and look after yourself first. This entails remaining a healthy diet, looking after financials and paying attention to your family, community, and others. Having a positive outlook in life will take an individual farther and will help the individual grow and shape their lives. Being successful does not happen overnight or automatically, it takes time, trial and error, and positive reflection. Scott Adams says, "every skill you acquire doubles your odds of success."
- Connect with ENT3003
- This book draws a connection with this course because, throughout the course, individuals go through failures and successes. This receives feedback that Scott Adams views it as "kind of failing", the feedback then gets doubled into positive failure that we learn from and fix on. This closely relates to this course because we are encouraged to give feedback to other students on their work, these students then go back to what they worked on and construct something new, making it a positive failure. The positive outlook on tasks helps students remain focused and eager to do better.
- Class exercise
- A class exercise that could be implemented from this book could be giving different types of feedback to students. Rather than giving feedback on things that the individual needs to fix or work on, feedback of what the student did well on and how the student is being successful could be mentioned.
- Biggest surprise
- The biggest surprise I read was reading how being selfish is a good thing. Being selfish is generally frowned upon or seen in a negative way. The author encourages individuals to always put themselves first because one should gain success with themselves before attempting to gain success with others or for other things. I agree with this because if you cannot be your best self, how can anyone expect that others will be their best self? I also admired the fact that failures should be seen as a good thing. I have always thought this because failures are what adds character and what teaches beings what not to do and what should be done.

18A: Create a Customer Avatar
Create a Customer Avatar
Customers for my product can be anyone who struggles with parking on college campuses. The avatar that I provided is a college student who has her car at school with her. Her daily schedule includes volunteering at the local hospital and attending class. Since she volunteers at the local hospital, she is driving to and from the hospital every day/night, in which she has a parking pass for a specific parking spot. She has a decal for her college campus but it limits where she can park. The closest zone that she can park in near her classes is at least a 20-minute walk. Since she has daily commitments and struggles with parking on her college campus, she would definitely benefit from this product.
The avatar and I are both college students with our cars with us. I also struggle with parking on campus and find myself having to leave for class at least an hour and a half earlier just to park in a parking spot.

14A: Halfway Reflection
1. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
a. Behaviors that I have developed throughout this course are being able to relate and enjoy each of the assignments. This course is structured in a way to break down thought processes and develop ideas. During the course, I have noticed that I enjoy having to think out of the box, conduct research, and elaborate on my ideas. I also enjoy reading other’s posts and hearing about ideas. Reading other people’s post-shows me how different and creative our thought processes are. Seeing other people’s creativity encourages and inspires me to improve and think out of the box.
2. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
a. The transition from high school to college was difficult to adjust to for me. The courses I took in high school were very generic because that was all that was offered. Adjusting to different types of courses and different ways of learning/studying was definitely a challenge but what pulled me through was realizing that I am here for a reason. I am so grateful to go to a school that offers such a wide span of topics and sources for me to grow and learn. I feel like I am developing a tenacious attitude as the courses get more interesting and I understand more topics. Since we are halfway into the course I understand how to complete assignments for specific courses and am learning more in-depth information rather than the basic starting information.
3. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
a. Stay on track. Staying on track of your assignments helps not only with your grade but your own mindset. Rather than waiting until the last minute and giving half effort into an assignment, stay on track and complete the assignment with effort.
b. Think out of the box. This course is designed to test your mind and push yourself. When brainstorming ideas, you should be creative and think of things that haven’t been done. Starting off the course being innovative helps you thrive in the assignments.
c. Try to relate. Try to relate to the topics that you are working on, it makes the assignments easier to do. Relating to the topics help you be passionate about what you are talking about. Rather than thinking of the assignments as homework, if you relate to them they can be work that you enjoy doing.

13A: Reading Reflection No. 1
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
· What surprised you the most?
o Being a part of this generation, everyone either owns or knows what the company Apple is. Steve Jobs is someone that people look up to and are inspired by because of his company and his road to success with it. Personally, I have always been interested in entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs and have done research on him prior to reading this book. While some might say that they were surprised by his decision to drop out of college or how he is invested with other companies, I was most surprised by how he coined the name Apple for the company. Since I have learned about Steve Jobs prior to reading the book, I knew about his story and how his company took off. I never wondered how he named the company until I read it in the book. I thought it was a bit humorous that he named one of the biggest and most successful companies Apple because he visited an apple farm the day he founded Apple Computer.
· What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?
o The most admirable thing about Steve Jobs was his charisma. Even after he dropped out of college, he chose to take courses to learn more. He was always driven to produce products that are perfect and never settled for anything less than great. The term “Reality Distortion Field” was coined, it was used to describe Job’s dedication to his products and his ideas. Having a term coined due to his dedication and his strive for success shows how charismatic he was.
· What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?
o The least admirable thing about Steve Jobs was his treatment of his colleagues and staff. His temperament was a very well-known issue that he had, people have even admitted that he verbally assaulted them. I believe that no matter who an individual is, they deserve respect. While Steve Jobs was the CEO of Apple, that does not mean he had the right to disrespect others who work for/with the company.
· Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it?
o Steve Jobs did encounter adversity and failure. In 1985 he was fired by the Apple board of directors due to an accumulation of his behavior and his treatment to those around him. Jobs did not stop there; he continued to invent and do what he loves. He became invested with Pixar and designed a computer called NeXT. He then was given a second chance with Apple in hopes to save the company.
2. What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur had?
a. Competencies that Steve Jobs had was his creativity in technology and his way of persuading people. Jobs always was creative and wanted to innovate to produce products that were like no other. Without Steve Jobs, we would not have most of our high technology today. With his creative mind, it was known that Steve Jobs had a way with words, he could convince individuals to push farther when developing ideas and work endlessly.
3. Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
a. I was confused about the relationships that Steve Jobs had. His relationship with his daughter from his first marriage was briefly touched on. I was confused about this because I know that his issues with his daughter were very public and well known, so I thought that there would be more insight to this topic in the book.
4. 2 Questions I would ask
a. What do you think about the company now and what has been produced?
i. I would ask this because I wonder if Jobs approves of the products that are released from Apple now and if they meet his high standards.
b. Do you regret anything that you did in your career? Any products?
i. I would ask this because I have a hard time believing that things are perfect. I feel that Jobs had to have regretted or wish he done something different with certain products.
5. What do you think the entrepreneur’s opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?
a. I believe that Steve Jobs never considered his work as hard, I think he viewed difficult work in a way that things can always be improved. After reading about his determination and drive to make perfect products, I think his mindset was not whether if it was easy or hard work, it was more about if it can be better. I do share that opinion but only to an extent. I think Jobs was very influential and successful, but he lacked the skills of being a genuinely nice person. I think he was always driven towards success but never understood that there is more to life than having a successful business.

12A: Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1
Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1
- Segment
- Those who face trouble with finding parking on college campuses.
- Interviews:
- Hayley F.
- Hayley fits into my segment because she is a college student who drives to her classes almost every day. Since she has to drive to her classes, she has to park her car near them. Hayley spends a great amount of time trying to find parking and this has interfered with her daily routine. She expressed that finding parking is one of the major issues with her college and she wishes that something could be done to fix it.
- Gianna J.
- Gianna fits into my segment because she is a college student who drives to class every day. She goes to college in a city that has drastic temperatures where walking to class is not an option on some days. She struggles with finding parking on some of her most important days and is affected by it. If she can not find parking in time she usually ends up skipping her class because so much time has passed.
- Jade R.
- Jade fits into my segment because like the other individuals I interviewed, she drives to class almost every day. Her campus is very big so most of her classes are not within walking distance. She told me that some days she would rather spend money on services like Lyft or Uber to get to class even though she has her own car. She does this just to avoid the stress of trying to find a place to park.
- Overall
- Each individual that I interviewed struggle with parking on college campuses. Each of their situations is different but they all have a common issue. This shows that there is an opportunity for my service/solution. More research could include trying to find out which college campuses need this service the most and which colleges have done things to fix parking for students.
11A: Idea Napkin No. 1
Idea Napkin
- You
- I am a 19-year-old college student at the University of Florida. I am majoring in Public Relations at the College of Journalism and Communications and minoring in Innovation at Innovation Academy. I am active in multiple clubs on campus and am certified in software like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop InDesign and Illustrator. I aspire to make any business that I pursue successfully.
- What you are offering to customers?
- I am offering a mobile app to help lower the stress of finding parking on college campuses. This app will allow students to be aware of the parking spots that are available and will help students prepare to find parking. Students will be able to find parking easier and faster so they can remain on schedule.
- Why do they care?
- People will pay for this product because it will help college campuses be more organized and will decrease the amount of stress that students struggle with when trying to find parking.
- What are your core competencies?
- What makes my product different is that there is no app to help students find parking. This is a common issue on different college campuses. As of right now, there is no resource to help students find parking.
- Summary
- I think that the 5 elements of my business concept fit together well. I believe that there is a target audience and the opportunity available. The aspect that could be worked on is making sure that the service would be used often. I think that with time and research, the business concept could be very successful and students who struggle with parking on college campuses will appreciate this service.

9A: Testing the Hypothesis Part 2
Interviews
Megan H.
Megan H.
- Do you think parking is an issue on your campus?
- Yes, I do think parking is an issue on my campus and many other campuses.
- Do you ever find yourself struggling to find parking on campus?
- I do not find myself struggling to find parking because I have a decal that allows me to park almost anywhere I want on campus. I got my decal with the number of credits I have and being lucky I guess.
- Do you think that most people on campus share this issue?
- I think that if I did not have my decal I would definitely find this a huge issue, so yes I think this is a common issue.
Isabel R.
- Do you think parking is an issue on your campus?
- For some people, it is an issue.
- Do you ever find yourself struggling to find parking on campus?
- No, I am all online so I do not need to go onto campus like other students do. I only need to park on campus when I have a meeting or need to go to a specific building for a short time.
- Do you think that most people on campus share this issue?
- I have heard from many other people that this is a big issue for them and how it should be fixed.
Kirstyn M.
- Do you think parking is an issue on your campus?
- I do think it is an issue for a lot of students.
- Do you ever find yourself struggling to find parking on campus?
- I almost never find parking an issue on campus because I drive a small scooter to my classes which I can fit in most small spots and usually these spots are open.
- Do you think that most people on campus share this issue?
- Yes, I think if I was to drive a car I would find this a big issue.
Francesca F.
- Do you think parking is an issue on your campus?
- Yes, especially on a campus where classes are not walking distance from main apartment complexes.
- Do you ever find yourself struggling to find parking on campus?
- No, I chose to live in an apartment that is very close to campus to avoid having to bring my car to school.
- Do you think that most people on campus share this issue?
- Yes, I purposely chose an apartment complex so I did not have to deal with this issue on a daily basis and it was the best decision ever.
Kyle P.
- Do you think parking is an issue on your campus?
- No, my campus has a lot of parking lots and parking garages.
- Do you ever find yourself struggling to find parking on campus?
- I do not because my school did a good job of making sure students had a lot of spaces and places to park. Our campus is also very spread out and there are so many places to park between each building.
- Do you think that most people on campus share this issue?
- I do not think most people do but I can see how some people get frustrated with parking.
Inside the Boundary
Who is in: Students who struggle with finding parking on campus.
What the need is: To find a solution to better parking situations.
Why the need exists: To decrease the stress and frustration of parking on campus.
Outside the Boundary
Who is not: Those who do not need to park on campus.
What the need is not: Ignoring the fact that the majority of people struggle with parking.
Alternative Explanations: People overlook this issue daily and do not consider stress.
Summary:
Overall, I have concluded that even though not everyone needs to park on campus, the opportunity still exists. I have also discovered that it depends on how each campus is designed to determine if this is a major issue or not. People mainly do not find this an issue when they do not drive or when their campus is within walking distance.

8A: Solving The Problem
The opportunity that I presented is very common in college towns, parking on and off-campus is an issue that students deal with almost every day. Students should not have to stress or worry about parking when they already have a lot on their plate. Considering that students pay thousands of dollars a year to attend universities, parking should be the least of their worries. Rather than spending time to find parking, students could be studying or making it to class on time. Even though some parking is available, I believe that more parking would be appreciated by students.
My solution could be various things, one could be developing an app that all students can access on their phone that shows which parking lots or parking areas are filled or empty. This app could help lessen the stress of having to hunt for parking. Another solution could be creating more decals for students or more parking lots. This would take longer and more work but in the end, I believe that students would make use of new parking lots or new decals. New parking lots, decals or an app would also show that schools listen to their student body and their opinions on making campus better.
7A: Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1
1. Not enough parking accessibility on college campuses.
- Who
- College students or faculty who struggle with finding parking.
- What
- The limited amount of parking and the struggle with the availability of parking on a college campus.
- Why
- It has become a common issue in most colleges and begins to affect the daily lives of students or faculty.
3. Hypothesis
- I believe that college students and/or faculty have dealt with the issue of parking on college campuses for years and as the population of students grows, it will increase. This issue has been voiced by an abundance of students and faculty members but no one has seemed to have found the right solution. I believe that interviewing individuals from college campuses will ensure the existence of this opportunity.
4. Interviews
- Angelina
- Do you struggle with finding parking on campus daily?
- Yes, before coming to this school I never thought that trying to find parking would be an issue that I would find so frustrating. I have classes every day, some of which are far from where I live. Since parking is so limited I have had to fit trying to find parking into my daily schedule when I could be doing other things with my time.
- Have you ever considered any solutions to limited parking?
- Maybe building more parking garages or parking structures.
- Do you think others will want better parking opportunities?
- Yes, I think that anything that can be done to help make the parking situations on campus better would be appreciated.
- Hayley
- Do you struggle with finding parking on campus daily?
- Yes, although some of my classes are within walking distance of my home, I find that when I do need to park on campus I always struggle.
- Have you ever considered any solutions to limited parking?
- Maybe having more decals that are available and more spots open to the public.
- Do you think others will want better parking opportunities?
- Yes, I think that this would help a lot with the stress that students have every day.
- Jade
- Do you struggle with finding parking on campus daily?
- Only sometimes, some days are busier than others which are still frustrating.
- Have you ever considered any solutions to limited parking?
- Building more parking garages so there are more spots for students.
- Do you think others will want better parking opportunities?
- I think that anything would be better than what we have now, students complain about parking often so anything that makes it even the slightest better would be good.
- Gianna
- Do you struggle with finding parking on campus daily?
- Yes, especially since I go to a college where the temperatures range from sunny days to snow days. On sunny days students are more likely to walk to class but on snow days it is almost impossible to find a parking spot because the school has such limited spots.
- Have you ever considered any solutions to limited parking?
- I have never thought about a specific solution but more garages or areas would help.
- Do you think others will want better parking opportunities?
- Yes, I think that it would benefit all the students.
- Maddie
- Do you struggle with finding parking on campus daily?
- When I came to college I did not but now that I have my car and I take classes that are more than a 30-minute walk from where I live, I do.
- Have you ever considered any solutions to limited parking?
- Maybe more decals that can be offered to students.
- Do you think others will want better parking opportunities?
- Yes, I think it would help students be less stressed.
After conducting my interviews, I am confident that this is an existing opportunity. Before these interviews I was only considering the campus of the college that I attend but after interviewing individuals of other colleges, I noticed that this is an issue that exists on multiple campuses. A solution for this issue could be implemented at other colleges and could help more people than I expected.

6A: Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory Trends
Housing
A. Where I found it: The website for my apartment complex.
B. Why an opportunity might exist: Since the prices for housing are rising at this specific apartment complex, it could encourage more opportunities to make money. With the complex gaining more popularity, the need for employees will rise.
C. Prototypical customer: People who live in apartment complexes looking to make more money to help pay.
D. Exploit: The opportunity is relatively easy to exploit because there are many places looking to hire more people so finding a job should not be hard.
Why I saw the opportunity: I saw this opportunity because I live in the apartment complex and notice how busy the office is and how hectic it can get.
Medical Marijuana
A. Where I found it: Through multiple news outlets and social media.
B. Why an opportunity might exist: There is sufficient evidence that shows medical marijuana benefits those who have certain illnesses and pain.
C. Prototypical customers: This could be an individual in need of medical marijuana to help relieve pain or help with their illness.
D. Exploit: I think this is relatively easy to exploit because medical marijuana is legal in numerous states and the effect it has on those who need it is successful.
Why I saw the opportunity: I see this opportunity because I have a friend who got into a serious accident and struggled with recovery. This person was able to get a medical marijuana card and this has improved their mobility and lessens the pain tremendously.
Economic trend: Climate Change
A. Where I found it: Local news outlets
B. Why an opportunity might exist: The US Climate is changing due to global warming, which is caused by an increase in greenhouse gases, this not only leads to warmers days but increases in the prices for food.
C. Prototypical customer: Everyone is affected by climate change but more specifically those who are experiencing natural disasters.
D. Exploit: I think this is relatively hard to exploit, the population does a lot to help the climate change but there is still more that could be done.
Why I saw the opportunity: I see this opportunity because I have noticed that there are many businesses and individuals who are trying to make our planet a greener, more sustainable place.
Economic trend: Baby Boomers are not retiring
A. Where I found it: Through research.
B. Why an opportunity might exist: Older generations will not make room for younger generations to begin working and take over for them. The willingness of baby boomers to work stems from the Great Recession and the scars left from that.
C. Prototypical customer: Someone from the baby boomer generation and from the younger generation.
D. Exploit: I think this is relatively hard to exploit if all the jobs available are taken then new jobs will need to be created.
Why I saw the opportunity: I see this opportunity because many people, especially college students are looking for jobs.

4A: Forming An Opportunity Belief
Jaylynn Rivchin
Do you have a vehicle with you at the University of Florida, If so, where do you park?
Yes, I have my car but I rarely move it from the spot given to me by my apartment complex. If I do take my car somewhere I try to find the nearest lot or garage that allows me to pay for my parking spot so I do not need to worry about my car getting towed or getting a citation.
How often do you find yourself stressed out about finding parking?
All the time, I find it most difficult when I have far classes but there is no general parking area so I cannot drive meaning I have to leave my apartment much earlier than I would need to just so I can walk and make it to class on time.
Is there a certain time when you believe trying to find parking is the worst?
I think it is all the time. The only time when it is a little quiet or some spots are open is in the middle of the night when no one has classes.
Do you think that a mobile app to help organize parking or new lots/garages for parking would benefit the community?
Yes, I think that more garages or lots would help a lot more than an app because it is offering more opportunities and spaces for people to park.
3. Katerina Petruzzelli, 20
Do you have a vehicle with you at the University of Florida, If so, where do you park?
I used to have my car with me but I decided not to have it with me this semester. I would park in any lot but only after the decals were lifted. Some times I would have one of my friends sit in my car while I go do something so in case someone tried to tow me they can drive my car somewhere else.
How often do you find yourself stressed out about finding parking?
I used to a lot, I thought it was frustrating having to find parking so I found myself not using my car as much and ended up bringing it back home.
Is there a certain time when you believe trying to find parking is the worst?
During the day because people are trying to get to classes and are desperate for spots, some people will leave hours earlier to find a spot and still make it to class on time.
Do you think that a mobile app to help organize parking or new lots/garages for parking would benefit the community?
Yes, I think that either of these would help minimize the traffic and the stress that parking causes. I think the community would appreciate this a lot and people would be grateful.
Summary:
The original opportunity is still very much present after interviewing individuals on the issue of parking at the University of Florida. I believe that my new opportunity solidified the question on if this was a real issue or not. After taking with these individuals I have gained a lot of information showing that students struggle each day with this type of issue. I believe that if there was a solution like a new garage or new lot or an app that detects available spots, people would be a lot less stressed, and would have an easier time finding parking.
Forming An Opportunity Belief
Parking is an issue for individuals who attend the University of Florida, some days it is impossible to find a parking spot that corresponds to the right decals given. There are parking garages and zones but most of them require decals that some students may not be able to qualify for. A way to get around the decals is parking after specific times or parking in one of the Gainesville City parking spots. In order to park in these spots, you need to pay extra attention to the time or else you can get towed or fined. I believe that parking can be organized better with the use of technology or more parking spots.
This has been an existing need since I started school at the University of Florida. I have also heard from students that are older than me that this issue has always been a trend. People have given up and have just been accepting the fines and the fact that there will be no parking. One way to get around this issue is to build more parking garages or lots. Another way is to develop an app that allows individuals to see which spots are available and which ones are not so it minimizes the amount of traffic and stress of looking for available spots.
1. Hayley Futernick, 20
Do you have a vehicle with you at the University of Florida, If so, where do you park?
I do have a car, thankfully my apartment complex has a parking garage for us but when I do need to park on campus I try to only park after 4:30 to avoid a fine. I park at the Norman garage but even though a new addition of parking was added, it still was only for certain decals that I cannot qualify for.
How often do you find yourself stressed out about finding parking?
Almost every time that I take my car to go somewhere on campus, everywhere I look is filled so I end up wasting a lot of the time trying to find a decent spot.
Is there a certain time when you believe trying to find parking is the worst?
I think midday is the worst time to try and find parking. I also think after 4:30 because everyone is trying to grab a parking spot since the fines and decals have been lifted for the day.
Do you think that a mobile app to help organize parking or new lots/garages for parking would benefit the community?
Yes, I would use the app all the time and would even pay for it if it reduces the amount of stress and traffic that there is.

3A: Entrepreneurship Story
Jaylynn Rivchin
There have been many occasions where I have found myself exposed to entrepreneurship, one experience is when I took the "Creativity In Action" course here at UF. I was required to take this course for my Innovation minor. This course required me to be in a group where we all worked together to invent a prototype for a specific issue. Our issue was how to improve emotional intelligence in childhood development. Together we proposed an idea of a watch that detects pulse rates on children and emits soothing sounds that relieve the child.
We called our prototype "The Mellow Way", as a group we all were assigned different roles to successfully make the invention. We thought how might we improve the emotional intelligence of a child's ability to identify, evaluate, control and express emotion in childhood development. Once the prototype was made and we had each component, we developed a pitch to present to multiple potential consumers at an event called "Catalyst".
We made our prototype using 3D modeling and Arduino kits. These elements are what made our product stand out in the event. The 3D printing involved sketches of an animal and the base of a watch to show how our product would work. Our group used the Arduino to code a system using a pulse rate detector and a small speaker to play a song proven to reduce stress levels.
I chose to enroll in ENT3003 because it seemed similar to the courses I was required to take for my Innovation major. I am constantly surrounded by exposure to entrepreneurship and I felt that this course will help me succeed in my major and my life outside of college.

2A: Bug List
Jaylynn Rivchin
ENT3003
ENT3003
January 24 2020
Assignment 2A- Bug List
1. People who walk extremely slow in public places.
a. When in a public place, for example, a mall, people tend to walk extremely slow when everyone else has a consistent pace. This is a bug because it frustrates people when they are trying to get to a certain store but get stuck behind an individual walking extremely slow.
2. People who chew with their mouths open.
a. People tend to chew with their mouths open when they are very hungry or just simply forget that they are chewing their food with their mouths open to people sitting with or near them.
3. People who will not respond when they are being spoken to because they are on their phone.
a. There are some phone calls or text messages that are very important to attend to but a simple “Hold on, I need to answer this” is fine. When I catch myself talking to one of my friends and notice they are completely ignoring what I am saying due to being distracted by their phone I easily get annoyed.
4. Individuals who send multiple short text messages rather than one concise text message.
a. Rather than sending 5 text messages and making a phone chime 5 times, people could put all the texts into one big text.
5. When people neglect the use of blinkers when switching lanes.
a. Not only are people putting themselves in danger when they do not use their turning signals, they are putting everyone else on the road in danger.
6. When one of my roommates decides to eat or drink something of mine.
a. It’s fine when one of my roommates runs out of something and replaces what they have used but when I notice that something of mine is gone and none of my roommates have told me they have taken it, it frustrates me.
7. When one of my roommates forgets/doesn’t lock our door once they’ve come back inside.
a. I believe that my front door should always be unlocked, regardless if other people do not lock their apartment at night. Being in college and living far from home, I think that it is dangerous to leave my door unlocked all through the night.
8. When people talk very loud on the phone in public places.
a. It is understandable when an individual is at home and talk loudly when they are on the phone but in a public place, I believe it is common courtesy to lower your voice so everyone around does not hear your conversation.
9. Attempting to get in contact with a specific associate/worker but automatically being directed to a automatic carrier.
a. There a lot of companies that have this phone system and it gets very frustrating when you are calling for a specific question but none of the prerecorded information answers the question.
10. Placing an online order at a restaurant for a specific time but the food is not ready by that time.
a. This is a bug because when I place an order for food, I expect it to be ready for the specific time that it was planned for rather than 10+ minutes later.
11. Being late in general to anything.
a. This is a big bug to me, I always like to be early to anything to take precaution for anything that could happen. The best piece of advice I’ve been given is if you are on time you are already late.
12. Having to be in a car as a passenger and the driver is texting or occupied by their phone.
a. This not only puts the driver and the passenger in danger, but it also puts the other people on the road in danger.
13. When people borrow an article of clothing but never return it or return it but not in its original form.
a. When I let someone borrow my clothes, I expect it to be returned in the same shape and form that it was given in.
14. When people leave their dirty dishes or old food in the sink.
a. This grosses me out when the sink is a open space in my kitchen, I do not want to be sitting at my counter eating and seeing day old food.
15. When people do not say thank you when holding the door open for them
a. Holding the door open for someone is not something that an individual need to do but is an act of kindness when it is done, when others do not thank them I believe that it is rude.
16. When people obnoxiously drive over the speed limit and disregard the fact that there is other people on the road as well.
a. There is a speed limit for a reason and everyone on the road took the same drivers test, when people neglect the rules of the road it puts everyone on the road in danger.
17. When people ignore a message you have sent but instead respond by asking for something else, completely ignoring your previous text.
a. It is understandable when people simply forget about a previous text they got but if others completely ignore what was said before and continue to a totally different topic I think it is a bug.
18. When people are rude to others or trying to pick fights for no reason.
a. I believe this is very immature when individuals try to pick fights with others because there is no point in starting a fight to begin with.
19. When one of my roommates leaves their laundry in the washer/dryer for more than a day.
a. It is understandable that everyone needs to do their laundry but living with 4 other girls, others need to be mindful that everyone in the apartment needs to do their laundry.
20. When people try talking to me during movies or when music is playing.
a. I think that when people try to talk over the movie or the music being played it gets very hectic, this could be solved by simply telling the other individual to push pause.
When I first started this assignment, I thought this was going to be difficult until I. realized that there are many bugs. I think that many people do not realize how many things "bug" them. While I was completing this assignment I found it much easier to list things because I was just thinking of things that personally annoy me and I know annoys others. After watching the videos and paying closer attention to what bugs me, it was a lot easier to make my list and explain the meanings.
