11A: Idea Napkin No. 1

Idea Napkin
  • You
    • I am a 19-year-old college student at the University of Florida. I am majoring in Public Relations at the College of Journalism and Communications and minoring in Innovation at Innovation Academy. I am active in multiple clubs on campus and am certified in software like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop InDesign and Illustrator. I aspire to make any business that I pursue successfully.
  • What you are offering to customers?
    • I am offering a mobile app to help lower the stress of finding parking on college campuses. This app will allow students to be aware of the parking spots that are available and will help students prepare to find parking. Students will be able to find parking easier and faster so they can remain on schedule.
  • Why do they care?
    • People will pay for this product because it will help college campuses be more organized and will decrease the amount of stress that students struggle with when trying to find parking.
  • What are your core competencies?
    • What makes my product different is that there is no app to help students find parking. This is a common issue on different college campuses. As of right now, there is no resource to help students find parking.
  • Summary
    • I think that the 5 elements of my business concept fit together well. I believe that there is a target audience and the opportunity available. The aspect that could be worked on is making sure that the service would be used often. I think that with time and research, the business concept could be very successful and students who struggle with parking on college campuses will appreciate this service.

  1. Hi Jaylynn! I thought your post was a good explanation of what your business is selling and why your customers will want to buy it. I think you might've missed the section on who you are offering the product to, but it is easy to see that it is specifically geared towards UF students that need help finding parking on campus. If the app does well at UF this product could expand into other college campuses or other markets altogether with issues locating parking for their consumers.

  2. Hey Jaylynn,
Your post does a good job of concisely introducing who you are to help effectively inform the listener your experience and achievements as a business creator. I believe you also did a good job in specifically explaining your business concept, why there is need for it and why your product will be successful compared to the current competitors. One improvement to your "napkin" idea would be to include your specific "target" audience from the main customers you mentioned and how you will efficiently advertise to them. Overall, I believe there's definitely an opportunity for your service and based on your explanation, it seems like your service would be successful within your assumed target audience.
